John Adams

Executive Director, Village Missions

Dr. John Adams has served with Village Missions since 1995. He joined the Mission after completing a Master of Divinity at Western Seminary and serving cross-culturally in China for a year. As Village Missionaries, Dr. Adams and his wife, Candy, first served in a small logging town in the Cascade mountains of southern Oregon. This small-town church helped them grow in the relational aspects of pastoral ministry and served as honorary grandparents to their children born during their eight years of ministry there.

In 2004, John and his family moved to the southern Oregon coast to serve one of the larger churches that partner with Village Missions. John was blessed to work with a variety of staff members during his thirteen years on that field. In 2011 he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree, writing a dissertation on ministry in a rural context. His research explored how rural churches can effectively reach newcomers in their communities, creating opportunities to show and share the love of Christ.

John became the Assistant Director of Village Missions in 2017 and the Executive Director in the summer of 2020.

John and Candy have been married for 30 years, and their children are now adults working in education and youth ministry.  John and Candy enjoy walks around their small town. Candy loves quilting, and John enjoys woodworking.
