Rural ministry brings both challenges and joys. If you’ve been feeling some of those challenges or wondering how to navigate them, this conference is for you! You will hear from veterans in rural ministry and glean wisdom and encouragement from other pastors and ministry leaders.
This conference is hosted by Village Missions as part of our goal to help country churches thrive.

Dan Mason
Assistant Director, US
Dan was raised in a church affiliated with Village Missions and served by Village Missionary Jerry Kennedy. As a teen, Danny felt led to serve and preach the Word in rural North America.
Dan and his wife Amber were accepted into Village Missions in 2006.
They completed a pastoral residency in Washington. Their first field was the small town of Unity, in eastern Oregon. After 3.5 years there, they moved to Pacific City, Oregon — a small fishing and agricultural town on the coast. They served in Pacific City for nearly 15 years. Dan also served the county as a chaplain for the sheriff’s office.
In 2026, Dan became the Assistant Director of Village Missions.

Greg Petrie
District Rep, Inland Northwest
Greg Petrie and his wife Susan are products of Village Missions! They both grew up in the Spokane area. They both began attending a church served by Village Missions in their youth.
After working as a mechanic for several years, Greg felt God calling him to Bible school and Village Missions. Greg and Susan moved with their two young children to Portland, Oregon, where he attended Multnomah School of the Bible. While there they interned at the Village Missions church at Sunnyside, Oregon.
Upon graduation, Greg and Susan applied to Village Missions and were accepted. They have served on the fields of Glenwood, Washington; Stonyford, California; and Lake California, California. They became District Representatives in 2013. Their district covers eastern Washington, Idaho, western Montana and northeast Oregon.

Ray Leggett
Pastor Chesaw Community Bible Church
Ray's heart and desire are to connect the transforming power of God as we link lives through the fellowship of Jesus Christ.
Ray and his wife Cheri have been in the ministry for over 24 years. I served as Associate Pastor in a church plant in Texas. They were then called to plant and build a church in Alaska, where they served as a bi-vocational pastor for 15 years. Their desire is to help rural churches thrive.
After Ray retired, some Village Missionary friends remarked that Village Missions would be a great fit for him! They knew he had developed a heart for rural churches. Their words were a definite nudge from God and ignited his desire to serve in rural America where many churches can’t find pastors to preach the Word and love the people. As he learned and prayed about Village Missions, he felt led to partner with them.
They moved to our first VM field -- Chesaw, Washington -- in 2024.
Ray and Cheri have been married for 29 years. They raised four sons and one daughter.
